Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia Announces Opening Dates

The long wait is finally over for South Philadelphia’s residents who have been looking forward to the launch of a new casino in the area. On January 6, the operator behind Live! Casino & Hotel announced that they have already set the opening dates for their new world-class gaming and entertainment company that will be located near the Sports Complex in the Stadium District.

This long-awaited launch will begin on Tuesday, January 19.  However, not everyone will get access to the venue on this date. That is because this launch date marks the beginning of a series of reservation-only Preview Days for the operator’s Live Rewards Club members.

Its official launch date and Grand opening for everyone else will come on Thursday, February 11. This is pending approval from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) which should not take too long considering the company’s stellar reputation.

“We are beyond excited to go Live! in Philadelphia and bring this world-class gaming and entertainment destination to the heart of the Stadium District. What we have created here is unrivaled anywhere in the country. Sports fans, foodies, gaming enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a night of fun and excitement only has to make one stop to experience it all.”

Joe Billhimer, executive vice president of Cordish Gaming Group.

Construction of the over $600 million project began way back in 2018 and has undergone a few delays recently. It will become the second casino in Philadelphia – the first to launch was Fishtown’s Rivers Casino Philadelphia that just recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in the city.

What to Expect

Naturally, the new Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia will need to bring its A-game if it intends to compete favorably in the city. That said, the venue’s management is promising that they will be setting new standards for gaming, dining, and entertainment with several new features. These include:

  • Over 2,100 slots and electronic table games
  • Up to 150 live-action table games
  • Dedicated 29 table Poker Room
  • Luxury, 12-story, 208-room Live! Hotel
  • Several dining and entertainment options
  • A FanDuel® Sportsbook
  • Six room Event Center featuring 15,000-square-feet of customizable meeting space
  • Convenient access to parking

These are just a few of the things that revelers can expect when they will finally be able to visit the venue. Other than those, the new operation also looks to get involved in transformative development. The main goal is to create maximum community benefits for the City of Philadelphia and bring economic opportunity and inclusivity to the city’s residents.

In addition to providing over 5,000 new construction jobs, the venue is also going to create up to 2,000 permanent jobs for locals when it goes live.
