The Most Successful Roulette Strategy Systems
Many of us love playing roulette, be it American, European, or French. However, no matter how exciting the game is, it is also quite risky. Thus, it’s perfectly natural to want an optimal roulette betting strategy that will help you win more than you lose.
Naturally, it’s not easy to find the most successful roulette strategy to win most games you play. That’s precisely where I can help you. I will give you the best strategies to use and everything else you need to know about roulette to help you win.
How to Win at Roulette
Everyone who has played roulette for an extended period knows that it’s not all about using the best roulette betting strategy and sticking to it to win. You have to make sure you’re being smart and doing what needs to be done at any given moment.
You can’t expect to learn a strategy and stick to it forever. Roulette is not math, it’s a game of chance, which can only mean that you need to alter your plan as the game unfolds, and you need to realize that unexpected things can always happen.
The Best Roulette Strategy That Works
The Martingale Strategy:
The Martingale Strategy is one of the most recognizable roulette strategy systems that many beginners and advanced players tend to use. It’s barely a roulette system as it can be applied to almost any table game.
However, it’s still one of the best because it guarantees wins!
The only bad side to it is that you need to have vast sums of money to ensure you’re always winning. That’s because the Martingale system is all about doubling your bet every time you lose and then starting from scratch every time you win.
As you can see, this is a slow but surefire way to win at roulette, as long as you’re ready to invest heavily to get through losing several spins in a row. Such situations are rare, but they still happen, so you have to be ready if you’re going to use this system.
It’s precisely due to its simplicity that the Martingale system is the best roulette betting strategy to use. You can use it in any type of roulette game, but you will have a slight advantage in European and French Roulette as there is only a single zero, improving your odds.
Other Successful Roulette Strategies That Work
Besides the best one, there are several other great strategies, and each could be considered the most optimal roulette betting strategy for a specific game or situation.
We’ve already mentioned the Martingale Strategy above, so let’s take a closer look at each one, so you know how to use them:
Labouchère System (Split Martingale System)
The Labouchère System, or the Split Martingale System, was made by Henry Labouchère. The system is mostly used among American Roulette players, and it’s usually considered to be the best system for red/black and odds/evens wagers.
Here’s how it works. First, you write down any sequence of numbers, and you add them together to calculate the potential profit. Each bet you make should be equal to the first and last numbers in your sequence. Whenever you win, move to the next first and last numbers, and whenever you lose, add the total amount you’ve lost (the initial bet, not the potential win) to the end of your sequence.
And that’s it! It’s fairly simple and very similar to the Fibonacci System, making it quite useful for the types of bets I mentioned.
Masse Égale System
The Masse Égale System is best for inside bets. However, it’s one of those systems that is mostly reserved for advanced players, as it’s quite risky.
In essence, the strategy is quite simple. You bet on a single number or make another type of inside bet, and you never deviate from it until you’ve won. By the time you win, all of your losses will be covered as these bets carry some truly advantageous odds.
However, as you can see, the downside is that you can spend a lot of time without a single win. What’s more, it’s entirely possible to lose so many times that the amount you finally win at some point won’t be enough to cover the losses. Naturally, this is quite rare, but the system remains very risky, albeit quite rewarding. So, if you’re still learning how to play roulette, you should stay clear of this system until you’ve gained enough experience.
Paroli System (Anti-Martingale System)
As the other name of the Paroli System implies, it’s all about doing the exact opposite of what you do when using the Martingale System. In essence, you have to double your bet every time you win, not when you lose. However, once you win three times in a row, you end the system and start from the beginning.
As is the case with the Martingale System, the Paroli System can be used on any roulette variant, so you can also consider it to be the most successful roulette strategy to win in most roulette variants. Even though that’s the case, American Roulette players tend to prefer it, so it’s mostly used for this type of roulette.
The D’Alembert System is similar to the Martingale System in many regards, but it’s still considered to be low-risk when compared to Martingale. When using D’Alembert, you increase your bet by $1 every time you lose and decrease it by $1 every time you win.
This strategy can be used in any roulette variant, and it’s almost impossible to lose with it. However, the wins are quite low as you can expect, but you can always be sure that you’ll at least have the amount you started with.
Split Bet Strategy
The Split Bet or a Cheval in French Roulette is a simple and smart strategy where you bet on two numbers by placing a chip on the intersecting line. This is also called an “inside bet” since these intersecting lines are within the grid of the roulette felt.
Splitting bets gives you an advantage because they maintain the same house edge as other bets, but they pay 17 to 1, which is the second-highest payout for roulette bets apart from wagering on one number. Naturally, if you split your bet, you will reduce the reward, but you will boost your chances of winning by betting on two numbers.
The “150” Strategy
The “150” System or the $150 Strategy is one where you always bet $150, so it’s much better for advanced players and high rollers. Let’s first explain how the “150” Strategy works so you’ll understand what we’re talking about when it comes to changing the bet amount.
Here’s what you do in every bet:
- Bet $50 on the first 12 numbers where the odds of winning are 1:3.
- Bet $50 on the second 12 numbers where the odds are also 1:3.
- Bet $5 on any ten of the remaining 12 numbers. The odds of winning on any of those is 1:35.
In essence, if you win the 1st or the 2nd bet, you will get your $150 back. But if you win the 3rd bet, you will get $180, a $30 profit. This system offers the maximum advantage to the player, as only three numbers aren’t covered, the 0 and two numbers from the last 12. In American Roulette, four numbers aren’t covered because of the 00, so your odds are slightly lower.
The Roulette Sector Strategy
The roulette sector strategy is recommended for European Roulette because the house edge is lower (2,70%) compared to the one in American Roulette (5,26%). The roulette wheel is divided into three big sectors:
- Jeu Zero — 12, 35, 3, 26, 0, 32, 15
- Voisins du Zero — 22, 18, 7, 29, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26, 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25
- Orphelins — 17, 34, 6, 1, 20, 14, 31, 9
- Tiers du Cylindre — 13, 27, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23, 10, 5, 24, 16, 33.
Each of these sectors contains different types of bets. The Voisins du Zero is a 17-number bet. Orphelins allows you to place a straight bet on number 1, and four split bets, for example. Finally, Tiers du Cylindre represents a set of six split bets. All three types of bets fall under the category of “Call Bets”. They are known to have a high payout.
Double Street Quad Strategy
The Double Street Quad System is notable for allowing you to cover a total of 17 numbers, which is almost half of all the numbers on the table.
Here’s how it goes:
- Bet 2 chips each on two different double streets, which means you bet on the border between the number grid and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd field. You choose two of these places, so you get to cover a total of 12 numbers.
- Bet 1 chip on a quad bet, i.e. the space between four numbers (make sure the other bets do not cover these numbers).
- Bet one chip on a random number that’s not already covered.
By doing this, you get to cover almost half the board, and your chances of winning remain high, while the total bet is a low risk one. Naturally, you can proportionally increase your wager if you are a more advanced player looking to wager more significant sums.
Street strategy refers to several roulette bets and systems. The first one is Street bet or Transversale Plein in French Roulette. It’s an “Inside bet” placed on three numbers with a payout rate 11:1. For this type of bet, the house edge is lower in European Roulette than in American Roulette.
The Double Street Quad System is popular among players because it allows you to cover up to 17 numbers with only six chips. It consists of one straight bet, one corner bet, and two double street bets. In most cases, you have a 50/50 per cent chance of winning. However, this strategy is easy to learn and apply, so it’s a good option for beginners or players with a thinner budget.
The Quadrant System in roulette is based on a theory many players have — one that states that specific parts of a wheel are hotter than others due to small imperfections on the wheel. Naturally, this strategy can only be applied to real table roulette or live roulette, not the virtual kind as virtual wheels are always perfect.
You can use this strategy on any roulette variant because all you need to do is split the wheel into four quadrants. The next step is to choose a quadrant and place a bet on at least five or six numbers in it or on all nine of them. And that’s it. You can switch quadrants, increase or decrease the bets; it doesn’t matter as the odds are always the same. You can even supplement the bet by adding chips to odds or evens or another low-odd field.
If you’re familiar with the regular Fibonacci System, you can already guess how it works in roulette. The basic premise is that you add your previous two bets together to get the next one. You keep doing that until you win, at which point you return the original $1 bet.
Essentially, with the Fibonacci System, you start with $1, then move on to $2 ($1 + $1), then move to $3 ($2 + $1), then to $5 ($3 + $2), and onward for as long as you keep on losing. This way, you’ll ensure a win just as you would with the Martingale system, but the gains will still be small.
The Best American Roulette Strategy
If your favorite type of roulette is American Roulette, you should use the strategies that favor this system due to its unique wheel arrangement and the added 00.
Most strategy systems can be used here, but there are two I believe to be the best for American Roulette. These are the Labouchère System and the Paroli System.
The first one is mostly used for red/black and evens/odds bets. It works by creating a sequence of numbers which you then need to sum up to calculate your potential profits. Then, when you start playing, each bet should be equal to the first and last number in the sequence. Whenever you win, eliminate the numbers from the sequence and move to the next ones, and whenever you lose, add the amount you’ve lost to the end of the sequence. Do this until all the numbers in the sequence have been used up.
In the second system, you do the exact opposite of the Martingale System. This means you need to double the bet whenever you win and start over whenever you lose. However, you also need to start over if you win three times in a row.
Most Efficient Roulette Strategy
It’s hard to find the most efficient strategy in roulette, as many of them are great for specific game types and particular situations. I can’t even say that the best strategy is the most efficient one. That’s because the most efficient strategy is the one through which you lose the least and have the highest chances of winning.
The Martingale System is close, but it is still potentially not worth the risk, as the reward could easily be perceived as not high enough.
So, the title of Most Efficient Roulette Strategy should go to the Fibonacci System. That’s because it’s essentially the same as the Martingale System, but there’s less risk and the wins can be equally good. Plus, you don’t have to prepare a sizable bankroll either.
European Roulette Betting Systems
All of the strategy systems we discussed can be used for European Roulette. In fact, I firmly believe that European Roulette is the best roulette variant. Why? Because it strikes a nice balance between the American and French versions. It gives you better odds than American Roulette along with simpler bets than the French variant.
If you decide to play European Roulette, you’re free to choose any of the strategies I covered, but make sure to consider your skill level and the situation you’re in.
The “Best Odds” Roulette System
It’s hard to find the “best odds” roulette strategy as many of them offer the same odds. Plus, the better the odds of winning in any game of roulette, the lower your winnings. That’s just how the game is designed.
So, when these two things are considered, I have to say that the D’Alembert Strategy has the best odds of all roulette systems. That’s because you only need to add $1 to your bet whenever you lose and remove $1 whenever you win. This way, you will hardly ever lose, so your odds of winning are consequently the highest.
Online Roulette Strategies
Many of you are probably wondering about online roulette and whether you can use these strategies with both real-life roulette and online roulette.
The good thing is that you can use all of my strategies except for the Quadrant System as it relies on imperfections on the roulette wheel, which don’t exist in virtual roulette.
Extra Roulette Reading for Fun
Now that we’ve covered everything you need to know about roulette strategies, it’s time to cover some interesting topics that could be of use to you.
Airball Roulette Strategy
Airball roulette machines are essentially the same as regular roulette machines, except that they are mostly computerized. This means that the ball is propelled by the machine itself, not a croupier.
Thus, there is no specific strategy you need to use on this type of roulette, as it works in the same way as other roulette tables.
Books on Roulette Strategy
If you want to really learn how to play roulette and become a more advanced roulette player, you need to practice, but you should also read books on the game.

The ‘James Bond’ Roulette Strategy
If you’ve watched Casino Royale, you’re likely familiar with this strategy. The James Bond Roulette Strategy is the system James Bond uses to win a roulette game in the movie.
It’s a relatively simple system where you always bet the same amount or opt for the Martingale method of doubling the total bet every time you lose.
Here’s an example of how it works:
- Place $14 on high numbers (19 – 36)
- Place $5 on the 13 – 18 line bet
- Place $1 on the zero
By doing this, you cover a total of 25 numbers, while only 12 remain open. It’s an exciting system with great odds, but it’s far from the surefire way of winning that the movie presents it to be.
Playing roulette is actually quite simple. There’s a table on which you place bets, with numbers representing the numbers on the wheel in which the ball spins. If the ball lands on something you’ve wagered on, you win! There are plenty of combinations and types of bets you can place, which is the only part of roulette you need to read up on to improve your chances.
You win by using one of the winning strategies covered in this article. But remember, roulette is a game of chance, so the outcomes are still entirely dependent on luck.
Russian Roulette has nothing to do with the game of chance called roulette. The only similarity is the word that’s used to name both games, and that’s all. However, Russian Roulette is a dangerous practice that shouldn’t even be called a game, where people play with their lives by pointing a revolver with a single bullet to their head. They spin the cylinder and fire the gun, hoping to land on an empty chamber rather than a loaded one.
There are 36 numbers on any roulette wheel (1 – 36) and a single 0, while only American roulette has an added 00.
No, it’s not. As long as the place where you decide to play is legitimate, the game won’t be rigged.
You can only improve your odds by using one of the best strategies covered in this piece. However, you can never wholly beat the odds, as no game of chance can be completely beaten. If that were possible, it would no longer be a game of chance!
